About

This is Studio Green Reform. That sweet spot between perfect and relaxed, strict and playful, classic and zeitgeist, flawless design and casual beauty.

Founded by Cris Putregai – active between Western Germany and Noord-Holland, the Netherlands, Green Reform specialises in conscious packaging and authentic brand design. From family-owned to big NPOs, from local to worldwide, we're ready to take on any challenge.

2021 graduated from the Green Graphic Design Course that focuses on how design intersects with forestry, resource extraction, and climate justice in order to understand how the practice of packaging design design can become sustainable.

Since then, we have increasingly embraced green practices in both our personal and professional lives.

Environmental
Policies

1. Business Policies

1.1. Green Reform supports verified forestry supply chains such as the FSC or Ancient Forest Alliance when choosing paper stocks.

1.2. 100% PCW recycled paper will be preferred, and if unavailable, the highest percentage possible will be deferred to for all print items. When traditional paper is not used, a sustainable alternative is acceptable (seed paper, sugar paper…).

1.3. Inks and coatings that have low or no VOC emissions will be used to minimize air pollution.

1.4. No plastic or foil coatings will be used (laminate, soft-touch matte…) for aesthetic purposes. Laminate will only be used when crucial for the longevity of the item. These coatings cannot be recycled and actively contribute to microplastic pollution in the seas, ocean and chemical leaching in our landfills.

1.5. Local printers are prioritized to support the local economy and reduce emissions. If a client is remote, Green Reform will source printers in their area to reduce the carbon footprint.

1.6. Item life-cycle is considered and designed for. Digital alternatives may be suggested where relevant.

2. Sustainable Policies

2.1. Green Reform is aware that by designing for print, it is profiting off of an extraction-based industry that in many cases is unsustainably extracted, causing harm to biodiversity, ecosystems, and people. Unsustainable extraction policy has created our climate emergency.

2.2. Green Reform's mission is centered around environmental responsibility and is aware of its role to act as a steward of the environment to protect and advocate for forest conservation and the creation of responsible business practices that decrease GHG emissions and increase carbon sequestering initiatives.

2.3. Green Reform understands the responsibility it has as a business and environmental advocate to ensure that it advises and ensures its clients undertake the creation of print design pieces in an ethical and sustainable manner that preserves our planet for future generations.

2.4. Green Reform will aim to follow the most up-to-date information available about the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives by having regular conversations with local printers about their practices and by following recommendations established by documents such as the IPCC report, Paul Hawken's "Drawdown," and the UN.

2.5. Green Reform will not support greenwashing campaigns or companies that are actively contributing to the destruction of our Earth, its inhabitants, or human welfare.

3. Diversity Policies

3.1. Include diverse imagery in mockups, photography, client presentations, portfolio pieces, and social media feeds.

3.2. Continue to learn about intersectional sustainability and learn from BIPOC individuals and communities in the Netherlands to promote sustainable education that fights against racism and advocates for justice.

3.3. Promote the voices of BIPOC in our work and amplify their environmental and human rights messaging whenever possible. This includes being more vocal about the Black, POC research we are reading.

3.4. Acknowledge the historical context of slavery in Noord-Holland and commit to learning about and supporting the environmental policies that promote inclusivity, diversity, and social justice within the region. This includes understanding and advocating for land rights, opposing harmful practices, protecting endangered species, and preserving and respecting protected areas.

3.5. Actively integrate BIPOC sustainability and anti-racist research into the sustainability framework used when collaborating with clients. This framework should be designed to identify and mitigate harm in local, national, and global communities, addressing environmental racism, injustice, and the historical legacies of slavery.
